Knight to Remember

Fargo: The expansion will introduce a whole new player class: the Death Knight. Death Knights will start at level 55 and will have an assortment of crazy abilities, especially with regards to raising/controlling undead (see our full preview for details). For me, seeing the Death Knight in action raised as many questions as it answered. For Raids, the new class has some unique abilities to help them tank casters, which few characters in the game to date can do very effectively. For standard solo and group play, however, it seems that the Death Knight can do a little bit of this or a little bit of that -– it's hard for me to tell where the new class will fit in, or if anyone will ever be shouting "Need a Death Knight!" in the LFG channel. It's hard to see how the new class will fit into the lore, especially for the Alliance. But I was loving some of the abilities, especially turning dead teammates into ghouls or launching hordes of ghouls at nearby monsters. I guess I just have to see more. Gerald: I play a tanking class in a raiding guild, and the Death Knight may become my "main" when Wrath of the Lich King hits -- it looks that good. The ability to raise a dead ally as a ghoul will be plenty of fun to use in Arenas, but their ability to use their Unholy tree to shorten the global cooldown is potentially game-breaking, and sets them apart from every other class in the game. A guild needs one, maybe two Prot Warriors per raid, while a Death Knight, with its interesting summons and magic-based tanking role may be a welcome addition to a raid situation where tanking slots are few and hard to come by.
